Well, the idea struck me without warning. You could say I had a moment of artistic clarity. There I was getting ready to fall asleep, ipod touch earphones in my ears & all, when I saw the light from the light pole outside my window. It's relatively new there, and I was planning to take some pictures of it for some time now. But the pictures didn't turn out all that great, and I couldn't just go to bed without some cool photos. So I started playing with various light sources and high exposure times on the camera. When I got to the lighter, I took that first photo. It looked pretty good, so good that all the others that came after weren't as good; they were either out of focus [hard to focus in near total darkness, even with a light source as a focusing point], not centered, ...
So there you have it. And yes, I'm planning some more macro shots myself. I have specific plans for capturing a mosquito on the mosquito window net with the moon as background light. I will need a camera stand for that, since focusing at exposure times higher than 1/30 sec by hand is nearly impossible.

But it's so fun playing with lighters. Nice pic, a bit too dark but hey, after all, it's a lighter. What triggered it? :)
